Total Defence
What do you think of Total Defence Day and what it means to you? What do you hope to see in the Total Defence Carnival?
I think that Total Defence Day is a day that all Singaporeans should celebrate.
Total Defence Day means I should love Singapore and always be a proud citizen of Singapore.
Total Defence is a job that all Singaporeans should do, which means we should all defend and protect Singapore at all means.
Total Defence provides the framework for a comprehensive and integrated response to deal with all kinds of threats and challenges. Total Defence always involves every singaporeans, regardless of race, religion or age.
We should always remember the five Total Defence aspects – Military Defence, Civil Defence, Economic Defence, Social Defence and Psychological Defence.
Total Defence Day is celebrated in every school. In my school, the Uniformed Groups will celebrate and they will wear their uniform, march and stand in position. They wear their most formal uniform and always stand with pride at the parade square. When they sing the national anthem, they will salute the national flag. We should all say the Singapore pledge with pride, so we should also say it loud and clear.
The Total Defence carnival will be organised by a lot of the teachers and Uniformed Groups Cadets. I hope that the Total Defence carnival will be fun and interesting. I also hope that I will learn more about the meaning of Total Defence and having a greater awareness of total defence.
